When you talk about alternative interfaces, would you include such things as eye tracking (not for accessibility, but as an alternative input)? yes one is coming You've been talking about 'design layers' for at least several years now. In theory, such layers make a lot of sense, but in reality we still aren't using them. Why not? What changes need to take place to facilitate _purposeful_ use of design layers? When it comes to generating design languages related to content, what is the role of epistemology and ontology (and logic). And how do we make decisions about those things? One of our recent job candidates mentioned Model-Based Instruction, a set of work from Mike Specter based on your efforts in MCI--are you aware of this work? If so what are your opinions about it? MCI is what I would call "semantically dense" one of the concepts behind the First Principles of Instruction was a sense of design prescriptions for the masses. Do you have any plans to do something similar with MCI? Klir's definition of a system is based on a 3-category ontology (entity, relationship, attribute). There are other ontologies that describe systems in terms of single or 4-category ontologies. My question is how do we determine which ontology that we should use in describing content? You think we 'should' take out 'should'? There are many other fields with a 'science'/'technology' relationship, but often they use 'engineering' instead of 'technology'.
