IT SEEMS to me that the vision statements are to help us to create or see a future that we need to be in... and to help us think how to get there; Ergo we need to think clearly about WHY we want these things? vision statement 1 is about personalisation, Vision Statement 6 is about access - apologies for the confusion on what level and by whom the personalisation takes place? It's not only about personalization this vision addresses the level of the individual, while the access vision (no. 6) addresses the societal level but also about democratization participation etc etc Visions 1 and 6 are closely related. It is not only if there is a facility to access learning, it is also if someone who wants to access can do it Eric, that's because of where you come from - there are other groups :-) V1 is about personalization and in a way is a precondition for all other statements V6 is more about equal opportunites to learning. I definitely also think of V1 as MUCH more than personalization, although it includes it I think we should not try to separate these contexts too much Do we have an agreement on that this vision statement is about personalisation - do not forget that there are 5 other visions Vana, and are not these two things a two-step process? Letīs focus on personalization but donīt forget access. I (journalist) know the news you need to hear; I (publisher) know the books you need to read... etc, etc I teacher know what you need to learn But I think the VISION needs to be more I (knowledge worker) can feed off many sources and can *own* much of my own process? and I learner am learning something that is not at all connected to waht the teacher is trying to push (informal and emergent learning) Right! agree on that I hope this chat is recorded and analysed Interesting that all the keynotes at educa recently were about INformal or NONformaal learning but that is also an issue of multiperspective learning and secondary learning objectsives of incidental learning SURE; but moving away form LECTURER to MENTOR I would say informal and formal learning can be personal and that does not make the difference I agree that the roles can or do change Moving the teacher from "Knowledge Filter" to "Knowledge Coach" sure SO... another target is *making mentoring or coaching happen better, in our future!* even filter or coach is also a question if you take into account that it is more about learning to learn than learning knowledge :-) Sure, a teacher should be a tutor-mentor-coach-like on this approach, working closer to the learner, the group, the environment and the platform So it is some kind of filtering of what I don't need (push) and what I do need (pull) Knowledge Filter = I will teach you what I know; Knowledge coach = I will help you to find oug what you are interested in. I donīt like the word Filter in this context filtering in a sense that there is an information overload. did you think about doing learning network analysis to find empirical evidence on those roles?
